Stenellar
This was a collaborative project that involved four people, and we selected five key words to guide our creative process: space, dolphin, diamond, dark, and light. As a group, we brainstormed and carefully selected these words, keeping in mind that they should have some connection with one another. To create the animation, we decided to feature dolphins as the main characters of the story.
Story
The story we aim to convey is a powerful journey of self-discovery. In our animation, the light dolphins symbolise extreme happiness, while the shadow dolphins represent deep sadness. We want to show that experiencing these two extreme emotions continuously is not healthy because even the light dolphins who appear happy all the time may be hiding sadness within them.
We want to suggest that even those who seem outgoing and lively can struggle with expressing their emotions. Similarly, the shadow dolphins are wrapped in sadness every day and feel that they are not good enough. Both these states can lead to negative impacts on the mind and body. Therefore, the "crystal" we designed in the middle of the story represents an opportunity to overcome their problems. It is a transformative moment when they discover that they can have different emotions and can embrace their sadness. The light dolphins, come to accept and understand their sadness. The shadow dolphins, discover their own goodness and are inspired by the positive energy of the light dolphins. They evolve into diamond dolphins, which represents the relief of finding a more comfortable way of life and a healthier state of mind and body. Overall, our animation is a meaningful story of self-discovery and the importance of embracing our emotions to live a healthy and fulfilling life

The final character reference was drawn by my teammate, and after discussion, we chose my shadow dolphin design and her light dolphin design because we believed these two designs better represented the differences between the two types of dolphins.
