Periwinkle-D

This is a group project that I did with my teammate Amber Liu. We were tasked with creating a 30-second animation based on the idea of "Point of View." Initially, it was challenging for us to decide on the type of animation we wanted to create and the story we wanted to tell. However, we came up with the idea that we both have different perspectives on the world. Why not use this concept to create an animation that emphasizes the idea of different points of view? With this idea in mind, we were able to produce a 2D animation that showcases the unique perspectives of different characters.

Story

The red and blue lines in our animation represent the viewpoints of the cat and the squirrel, showcasing their unique perspectives on the world through the scenes they see when they wear their glasses. The cat prefers space and the sea, while the squirrel enjoys nature and the city. This symbolizes the fact that everyone has different preferences and viewpoints, and we all care about different things despite living in the same world.

In the subsequent story, the cat and squirrel collide and realize that their ideas and perspectives do not match. They fight to defend their own ideas but eventually come to a resolution after their glasses are broken. This shows that their viewpoints have shifted, and they have learned to accept each other's ideas. The story ends with the color purple, representing the merging of their worlds and their newfound acceptance of each other.

Through this story, we aimed to convey the message that everyone's point of view is valuable and worthy of respect. As we gain more experiences and exposure, our worldview can expand and we may discover new and surprising things that can change our lives. We purposely left the end of the story open so that the audience can imagine what happens next and continue to reflect on the importance of embracing different perspectives.
