Bites of a Nightmare

This is another animation project that I collaborated on with Amber Liu, but it is more of an animated storyboard as we wanted to focus more on shaping the story rather than the animation itself. We aimed to create a darker, vintage animation style. The story is based on the theme of "The Last Night of the World". Unlike the more heartwarming plotlines, we imagined a world-ending event caused by monsters, and this animation is the beginning of everything.

Story

The story is about an invasion of Earth by creatures that resemble teddy bears. They target children as their most innocent and vulnerable victims, disguising themselves as new toys for kids to bring home. However, when the children fall asleep while holding the teddy bears, the creatures emerge from their bodies as bear-headed scorpions that bite the children's heads and insert their tails into their necks to control them. As the new toy becomes popular and every child wants one, only the protagonist Tom, who didn't get one because his mother refused to buy it for him.  While feeling disappointed, he discovers that his classmates have disappeared, and when he opens the classroom door, he is met with a group of classmates who have already been taken over by the creatures...
